Hey! I am Tori. My pronouns are they/she; preferably used interchangeably. I am a Black, Fat, & Queer Birthworker in Columbia, SC (Cherokee & Congaree Land). My ultimate goals are to be of service to my community and to create a space for Black liberation to thrive.
Formal introduction aside; I would like to share some facts that are essential to my being that may resonate with you and create a connection
I am an exceptional cook and baker. And I love to do it for others.
I find profound joy in fellowship with other Black & Indigenous folks.
I read because I believe there is no better way to expand myself and further decolonize learned beliefs based in white supremacy. I only read books written by Black & Indigenous writers.
I fancy myself a bit of a comedian and keep a comedy notebook full of joke ideas. I love laughter and am not embarrassed by much.
I spend too much money on creature comforts. Taurus sun through and through.
I am nonbinary. And while I do not identify as a woman, I enjoy being called “girl” and all other Black Queer coded names by BIPOC.
I have an emotional support water bottle covered in personality stickers. I also collect lapel pins.
My liberation is directly tied to this work and my personal peace. I make an effort to only engage in spaces that bring me pleasure. *Read Pleasure Activism by Adrienne Maree Brown *
Lover of beverages… gin cocktails, mimosas, craft beer, water with light ice, most hot tea, and iced coffee when my stomach cooperates.
