Land Acknowledgement

Congaree & Cherokee Land

As many of us are settlers, immigrants, or descendants of those forcefully brought to this land, it is our collective responsibility to pay respect and recognize that this the traditional territory of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Tribe and I am here because this land was occupied and because of histories of chattel enslavement.

In recognizing that this (virtual) space occupies colonized aboriginal territories, and out of respect for the rights of aboriginal people, it is our collective responsibility to critically interrogate the colonial histories and present-day implications of this and to honor, protect, and sustain this land.
